Items with * are found in art and craft stores. An online link is included for each, so you can see what it looks like. However, you can probably get it cheaper, if you have a coupon for a local store.

*Artist's canvas with staples on the back , 12" x 12" and least 1/2" deep. Online example
*Gloss gel medium (small amount.) Look for this near the acrylic artist paints. Online example
Foam brush, about 1" wide
Electrical tape, black. Get the cheapest you can find at the hardware store.
Chalk or washout pencil
Saral or other dressmaker's "carbon paper"
Background fabrics: Scraps of desired color- at least 6 different fabrics and enough to cover about 16" square. Plus optional small pieces of contrasting colors.
Flower fabrics: a wide variety of small scraps in the same/similar color. (Fist sized is about right.)
Leaf fabrics: several scraps, from a variety of fabrics
Black permanent marker, fine tip
